Contractors Publish Carbon-Reduction Guide For SMEs

Following the successful COP26 conference, civils contractors today published a guide for SMEs on how to reduce carbon emissions in construction. Carbon Reduction Demystified for SMEs in Civil Engineering has been published by the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA), free to use for UK construction companies.

Commenting, CECA National Civil Engineering Director Peter Crosland said: “The UK Government has rightly set an ambitious target for the UK to become Net Zero by 2050.

“In order for that to happen, UK construction must take steps to reduce our carbon emissions. As a great many construction companies are small and medium-sized enterprises (having less than 250 employees), we hope this new guide will enable a wide proportion of the industry to access specific awareness, advice, and examples of good practice that will aid them in their journey towards a low carbon future.

“The document has been written following expert input from both main and sub-contractor CECA members, and we hope that it will act as a primer for a wide range of businesses to understand the practicalities involved in carbon reduction, as we transition our industry towards Net Zero in line with the UK Government’s aims.”
