Support to recruit talent from overseas

Support to recruit talent from overseas

With many civil engineering companies finding it difficult to recruit and train enough workers to meet growing demand, some contractors will be looking to attract skilled people from overseas.  This guest bog from Talent Scotland tells you all you need to know about what support the Scottish Enterprise initiative can provide to help your business navigate the world of immigration and visas.

Do you struggle to recruit the talent that you need?  Do you know about the new UK immigration system and how to get support for your business?

The UK immigration system has been radically reformed over the last 12 months.   The good news is that the UK now has a very open, streamlined sponsorship process and it is easier and faster than before to sponsor medium and highly skilled workers to work in the UK.

There are also additional new visa categories planned (as part of the trade agreement negotiations with various countries) which should make it easier for employers to tap into those overseas talent pools when filling jobs.

Getting the right skills for your business can sometimes be a challenge in areas where there is competition for specific or niche skills and you may want to consider looking outside the local labour market.

However, navigating the immigration rules and potential visa routes can be daunting for employers who are unfamiliar with them.  That is where TalentScotland support can make a real difference.

Run by and within Scottish Enterprise TalentScotland is an international project. As part of our support we offer general support and guidance to help employers navigate the UK immigration system.

If you are looking at recruiting for your business or replacing roles that you might have traditionally filled with EU talent, our support may be of interest to you.
