Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2018

Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2018

It’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week, an opportunity to promote the huge benefits apprenticeships bring to young people, businesses and the Scottish economy.

The campaign theme for 2018 is ‘Apprenticeships are the Business’.
Organised by Skills Development Scotland, Scottish Apprenticeship Week highlights the commitment of businesses that invest in the skills of their workforce.

It shows the success of apprentices who have chosen work-based learning to get qualified to develop their careers. It also highlights changes to apprenticeships including the introduction of Foundation Apprenticeships for senior pupils and Graduate Apprenticeships.

As well as promoting apprenticeships to a new generation and to employers, #ScotAppWeek18 is also a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the success of Scotland’s existing apprentices.  Last week, Sophie Gray, Apprentice Plant Fitter at George Leslie Ltd, won the CECA Scotland Awards for Most Promising Apprentice.

In our short video clip, Sophie tells girls thinking about an apprenticeship to “just got for it, enjoy yourself”.
