An “in-person” meeting will take place to kick start what will become regular meetings of this joint group.

Health, safety and well-being issues are known to be linked to operative fatigue. FC Labs will demonstrate CoreTech, a product that is in the final stages of development. It can keep wearers safe, optimises performance and prevents burnout in challenging, high-risk work environments such as construction. CoreTech discretely tracks the wearer’s mental attention and fatigue, using tiny sensors positioned over the forehead which measure blood flow and oxygenation in the frontal cortex area of the brain. Further information is attached.

Service avoidance continues to be a challenge for the sector. CECA intends to organise and promote a “Safe Digging” event as part of the STOP: Make a Change stand down event in October ’22. Attendees will be asked for their thoughts on what should be included at such an event and who it should be aimed at. Rebecca Glendinning of the Clancy Group will provide their learning outcome from a recent service strike that could feed into the general objective of the “safe digging” event.
