#CECA21 Conference
Rebalancing the UK’s economy is a huge challenge but it’s one we must address.
Earlier this week, CECA Scotland participated in the CECA 21 Conference, organised by CECA National. Held in Doncaster, the Conference explored how we can harness the Northern Powerhouse to deliver real change and drive forward infrastructure investment right across the UK.
We discussed CECA National’s paper, Rebalancing the economy: The North, which sets out a range of policy proposals aimed at unshackling the economy of the North of England, driving economic growth, boosting connectivity, and creating jobs.
CECA Scotland believes there are significant economic opportunities and benefits for Scotland in developing stronger links with the North of England. We’re hopeful that if the Northern Powerhouse is given the borrowing and revenue powers it needs, we will finally begin to see the rebalancing of the UK economy, increasing the scope to tackle cross-border challenges, such as the need for better road and rail links between Scotland and the North East, as well as faster connections to the South.
Rebalancing the UK economy will not only be essential to delivering post-Brexit growth, it will also deliver real gains for contractors in Scotland.
